TikTok, one of the world’s largest social media platforms, has achieved a big break in recent years and wants to continue its development. The company, which wants to expand its user range in this area, is also taking a hand in the field of virtual reality (VR). Huge investment approved for Pico.

ByteDance started recruitment for VR headset manufacturer Pico

It was actually known before that TikTok would enter the virtual reality world. ByteDance, the parent company of the platform, bought VR headset maker Pico last year. According to a report by Protocol, the company will literally pour tons of money into the industry.

As part of the initiative, Pico turned to the USA. Recruitment has started for Pico Studios branches in California and Washington in different fields. More than 40 positions will be recruited. So much so that these hirings will cover many fields, from an optical engineer and a systems design electrical engineer to a game operations manager.

Although Pico is still at the beginning of the road, it is preparing to make a significant leap with the support left. The company, which will have to compete with companies such as Meta, HTC, Valve and PlayStation in the USA, has already provided the production line it needs.

Virtual reality has become especially popular recently. VR, which will be the technology of the future for many people, has become the sector in which companies invest heavily with the term metaverse. TikTok, which has been working in many areas such as movies and games in recent years, plans to make important innovations in the field of VR.
