Vietnamese crypto miners say they suffered heavy losses after their Ethereum Merge rig became useless.

Vietnam, which is at the top of the 2022 Global Crypto Adoption Index, is among the countries that are welcoming to crypto. The Vietnamese, who are in close contact with the crypto industry, have been having a hard time lately. Ethereum switched to Proof of Stake (PoS) with Merge and ended its mining activities. For this reason, Vietnamese crypto miners also entered a difficult process.

Vietnamese Crypto Miners Shelves Rig

Vietnamese crypto miners suffered heavy losses as their mining rigs became useless after the second largest cryptocurrency, Ethereum, completed its transition to Proof of Stake.

The technical upgrade, called Merge, was completed on the morning of Thursday, September 15. Ethereum stopped mining operations and complaints from miners increased.

Goodbye Ethereum, no more luck and the terms selling rigs have become the most used keywords in online groups of Vietnamese crypto miners after Ethereum successfully migrated its protocol to PoS.

The explanations made by the miners on the subject were as follows:

“We all knew and prepared for this day to come, but some were hoping that Merge would happen later so we could mine some more. Miners can no longer mine and have to turn off their rigs”

“I started mining four years ago and expanded my farm from the ground up. I did not get my new investment back and it is almost impossible to sell it”

“Many of my friends are down and don’t know what to do with their assets”
