The Prime Minister of Vietnam has called for regulation of the cryptocurrency industry.

Lawmakers are pressing the country’s prime minister to clarify his stance on digital assets.

Vietnam Prime Minister Calls for Regulation

Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called for regulation of the cryptocurrency industry at a meeting.

Chinh said that he is impatient with virtual assets not being recognized, but despite this, people continue to trade crypto.

According to the country’s local newspaper, VnExpress, the prime minister’s crypto exit came while discussing upcoming changes to the anti-money laundering law.

Lawmakers continue to pressurize the prime minister, central bank and justice minister to clarify the stance on digital assets and blockchain technology.

Duong Van Phuoc, a delegate in the national assembly, argued last month that virtual assets should be included in a bill. In addition, he claimed that digital assets were used by gambling and money laundering gangs.

Huy Nguyen, vice president of the Vietnam Blockchain Association (VBA), said that digital assets are in a very tight area within Vietnamese regulations.

Last year, the Vietnamese government instructed the country’s central bank to launch a crypto pilot program.
