READING NOW Valve hit the table: new ban for Counter-Strike tournaments!

Valve continues to work on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, or Counter-Strike 2, which will bring a new breath to CS: GO in short. With a short time left to roll out to players, Valve has announced a new set of rules for competitive league tournaments.

Franchise leagues will be banned for Counter-Strike 2!

Valve is making a major rule change for competitive tournaments. The company has announced some of these new rules. Accordingly, we can say that with Counter-Strike 2, there will be a significant change for tournaments.

According to the rules announced by Valve, franchise leagues will be banned with Counter-Strike 2. For those who don’t know, franchise is the name given to the leagues where e-sports teams are included in the tournament by paying a participation fee.

Unfortunately, ESL Pro League and BLAST, which are the most followed leagues and teams are included by paying money, do not comply with this rule. The teams that will be invited to the tournaments will be based on Valve’s ranking system and will be determined together with the open qualifiers.

In addition, Valve also announced that it will be mandatory for the payment made to the teams in competitive tournaments, that is, the amount of the prize given to be shared publicly. This step for transparency will also reveal the bonus payments made to the teams.

These new rules, announced by Valve, will begin to apply from 2025 for the expiration of long-term contracts for franchise tournaments and changes to these contracts in accordance with the rules. In other words, the leagues we mentioned were given a period of time to make arrangements.

Counter-Strike 2, which will be presented to the players by publishing an update for the currently released CS: GO, is expected to be released in the coming weeks. The new game will bring many innovations.

Major leagues will go through significant changes with Valve’s new rules. So what do you guys think about this issue? Do you think it makes sense for the company to take such a step for the leagues? You can share your views with us in the Comments section below.
