Now, it has been announced that such a situation is experienced in Martı, the electric scooter sharing system serving in many cities in our country. Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK), in a statement on its official website, noted that there was a data breach in Martı, the scooter service used by citizens in their daily lives.

In the statements shared by KVKK, it was stated that user data was accessed by unauthorized persons in the statement sent to the institution by Martı Ileri Teknoloji AŞ. Stating that the violation was detected in an e-mail sent on Sunday, February 27, 2022, the institution added that it is not clear how many people were affected by this violation. In the summary of the KVKK regarding the data breach notification provided by Martı;

  • A data breach occurred by unauthorized person(s) accessing the data controller systems,
  • The data breach was detected on 27.02.2022 upon the e-mail sent by the unauthorized accessing person(s),

Martı, which has become increasingly popular, was founded in 2017 by Oğuz Alper Öktem and Sena Öktem. This initiative, which aims to provide electric scooter service to people who are tired of traffic, has managed to spread to many cities across the country since its inception and reached millions of users. The use of electric scooters also made Martı an environmentally friendly transportation option.
