The US Treasury Department is launching a new initiative to inform citizens about crypto.
The US Treasury Department’s Financial Literacy Education Commission said it will launch an initiative focused on informing the public about the potential risks of investing in crypto.
Treasury internal finance undersecretary Nellie Liang stated that the training materials will include information on how the crypto system works and how they differ from traditional forms of payment.
Liang also highlighted that cryptocurrencies can offer potential benefits such as improving financial inclusion and cross-border payments.
Liang said the initiative was set up to educate “without trying to eliminate new technology and new innovation.”
US President Joe Biden plans to issue an executive order detailing the policy-making and regulatory strategy for cryptocurrencies.
