The city of Fairfax, Virginia plans to farm returns on crypto for pension system investments.
At a panel at the Milken Institute Global Conference, Katherine Molnar, chief investment officer of the Fairfax County Police Officers Retirement System, spoke about the city’s crypto plans. Molnar said that after investing in crypto with some of the city’s pension funds, he is now looking at yield farming options in crypto. According to him, the system will fund two new crypto-focused hedge fund managers within three weeks.
Molnar said the city has made seven investments in crypto through two pension funds. These seven investments include strategies to capitalize on volatility as well as a hedge fund that has implemented a variety of strategies in crypto, including yield farming, fundamental trading, and cross-exchange arbitrage.
