Caroline Pham: “Crypto Knows No Borders”

Commissioner Christy Goldsmith Romero, sponsor of the CFTC’s advisory group, said in a statement: “A discussion on DeFi, including cybersecurity vulnerabilities, indicators of decentralization, digital identity and non-hosted wallets, will add to the ongoing policy discussions beyond Washington and the Beltway. ” he said.

As the SEC seeks new authorities to oversee the non-securities crypto spot market, the CFTC is showing increasing interest in the crypto sector.

Another of CFTX’s advisory committees, the Global Markets Advisory Committee, overseen by Commissioner Caroline Pham, met on February 13 to discuss digital asset issues at its first meeting. Pham argued that crypto truly knows no boundaries and that policymakers need to understand what is going on at the international level.

International Monetary Fund (IMF) President Kristalina Georgieva also made comments on crypto regulations recently. Goergieva stated that she would prefer to keep Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies under control by regulating rather than banning them completely.
