Volvo, one of the largest automobile brands in the world, continues its efforts to make the driving experience safer. Taking action in line with this goal, the company cooperates with Epic Games.
Volvo will use Unreal Engine to create “photorealistic” graphics
Volvo, like companies in the entire automobile industry, is making significant investments in the world of electric vehicles. The company, which wants to be a fully electric car company by 2030, will partner with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine to bring “photorealistic visualization” to its next generation electric vehicles.
This partnership of Volvo, Epic Games reveals what has been described as a “man-machine interface” (HMI). HMI is described as the way car owners interact with their vehicle’s software. Thomas Stovicek, Volvo’s head of user experience, said:
This technology gives us the ability to create responsive, really high quality visuals that we can play around with and layer information, creating realistic representations as needed, all that sort of thing. So we will really create the next generation HMI for our customers.
Volvo will offer many improvements with this partnership. Stovicek stated that in addition to navigation and battery life, features such as motion graphics will be improved in cooperation with Epic Games. On the other hand, the company has many initiatives in the electric car world.
Volvo is preparing to bring the wireless charging technology, which has been used in phones for a long time, to the automobile world. While there are companies already using this technology, Volvo will offer over 40 kW of boost.
