We know that Bethesda has been working on The Elder Scrolls VI for many years. A new claim for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion showed that it will return as a remake/remastered. It has been reported that Bethesda has started to develop the new production.

Remake claim for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Bethesda’s popular role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, released in 2006, has once again been on the game agenda. According to a post on Reddit, a studio called Virtuos started working on Oblivion Remake using Unreal Engine 5.

In the post on Reddit, it was stated that the remake will keep the gameplay and physics of the game, but will undergo a major graphical overhaul. It should be noted that Virtuos specializes in remakes and is currently working on Metal Gear Solid Delta.

Oblivion was released in 2006 as the fourth installment in the popular Elder Scrolls franchise. Set in the fantasy world of Tamriel, Oblivion allowed players to customize their characters and explore a huge open world. It was highly appreciated with its wide world, leveling system and impressive visuals.

A remake/remastered might reintroduce Oblivion to the younger generation of gamers. However, it should not be ignored that Bethesda is currently dealing with Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI.

While the Reddit rumors have made a big splash, Bethesda has yet to confirm the allegations about Oblivion. Initial reviews say the game will launch in late 2024 or early 2025.
