Unreal Engine 5, which was first announced by Epic Games in May 2020 and introduced in April of last year, left its mark on the game world. The company introduced the new version of the game engine at the GDC 2023 event held in March.

Some innovations introduced with Unreal Engine 5.2

Unreal Engine 5.2 is available today. There are some improvements with the new version. In fact, a video content was shared in March about the release. Today, the innovations were announced in detail. Epic Games made the following statements in the statement.

We are excited to announce the availability of Unreal Engine 5.2. With this release, we’ve further expanded UE5’s groundbreaking toolset as we continue to deliver on the promise of making Unreal Engine the most open and advanced real-time 3D rendering tool in the world. Unreal Engine 5.2 pushes the boundaries of what creators can expect right out of the box by introducing innovative new functionality alongside feature enhancements and stability improvements.

With the new version, some details attract attention. Unreal Engine 5.2 integrates a Procedural Authoring (PCG) framework that can be used directly within UE5 without relying on external packages. Alongside the Procedural Content Generation framework, the Substrate material authoring plugin is included.

The company is focusing on its new Substrate shading system, which allows game developers to create and layer different shading models. In addition, many improved features such as Advanced virtual production toolset, Apple Silicon support, New ML Deformer example are included in the game engine.
