Both Samsung and Apple are expected to refresh their flagship phone lines in the next six months, and we now have a better idea of what the biggest and most expensive phones in both series will look like side-by-side.
The leaker @UniverseIce has posted unofficial images of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Ultra on social media. The image confirms the accuracy of previous rumors about these phones: The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will have a flatter screen this time, while the screen edges of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra are expected to be slightly more curved.
According to the same source, the switch to flat screen also increases the width of the S24 Ultra compared to its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Design changes like these often require compromises, and that’s the case here as well. Curved edges, which have become the norm for premium phones in recent years, are more aesthetically appealing but can make phones harder to grasp.
@UniverseIce thinks the move to a flatter, wider phone means a throwback to the times of older Samsung Galaxy Note models. We think using a flatter screen on the Galaxy S24 Ultra would mean more pronounced bezels, which may be an issue for some.
The Galaxy S24 won’t be coming any time soon, so it will take some time before we can actually compare it. However, Apple’s new phones are expected to be released next month.
