Final Proposal Failed to Support Uniswap Community
The Uniswap community voted against and rejected a proposal imposing a protocol fee for liquidity providers. In the voting, approximately 45.3 percent of the votes supporting the “free” option, while 54.6 percent of the votes divided between the two options to determine the protocol fee were opposed.
The proposal was put forward by GFX Labs, arguing that Uniswap is in a strong position and that the protocol could generate significant revenues. However, community members opposed the proposal, stating that liquidity providers do not need discounts and that professional market makers make the most money from Uniswap.
There are different views on fees in the Uniswap community. Some members consider it important how the fees are applied, while others believe that the fees collected by the protocol should be distributed programmatically in an autonomous manner.
This incident once again demonstrated that the Uniswap community has differing opinions on management issues over the protocol and the difficulty of reaching consensus on issues such as compensation policies.
