Many of the movie adaptations of the normally popular game series have been a disappointment to both critics and fans of the game to date. However, Uncharted was a film that managed to stand out from the rest here.
Sony is pretty excited for Uncharted 2 movie
The producer of the first film, Charles Roven, states that the film attracted a lot of attention from publisher Sony Pictures in terms of financial success. The Uncharted movie debuted last year to mixed reviews, but as you can imagine, the only thing that concerned Sony was the $400 million it grossed at the box office.
An Uncharted sequel has always been on the agenda, as production and distribution companies care more about how much money their films make than what critics have to say about them.
In fact, not to give spoilers, but at the end of the Uncharted movie, we saw Nathan and Sully in a scene like at the beginning of the story of the first game. So the studio had already left the possibility for a second movie. Now, in an interview with the press, producer Roven has confirmed that there will be a sequel that will begin development at some point.
When asked specifically if he had any desire to continue the series, Roven replied, “Oh yes! We had a really good time shooting the movie. Fans really loved the movie, and people who didn’t know anything about the game really liked it. So we definitely want to do another one.”
In Uncharted, Tom Holland plays the wily and charismatic adventurer Nathan Drake, while veteran actor Mark Wahlberg plays his mentor and right-hand man, Victor “Sully” Sullivan. The duo were quite young since they were in the first Uncharted game. Since the movie tells the prequels of the first game, they are even younger here.
It will be interesting to see if the Uncharted 2 movie will be adapted into the first game in the series. It’s really exciting to see characters like Elena Fisher and Sam Drake in the movie and think about who will play them. Are you excited for the Uncharted 2 movie?
