Russian app developers have prepared an alternative to the Google Play Store, and the service is expected to launch on May 9. This date, the country’s II. It coincides with Russia’s Victory Day, a national holiday celebrating its victory in World War II. The alternative store was developed after Google suspended all payments.
Vladimir Zykov, project director of Digital Platforms, an organization focused on digital development, told Reuters, “Unfortunately, Russians can no longer normally use Google Play to buy apps, and developers have lost their source of income. That’s why we set up a Russian app store called NashStore.”
NashStore means “Our Store” in Russian. According to the app developers, this service will serve Android devices in Russia and will be compatible with Mir bank cards used in Russia.
