Three people were arrested by the security forces for allegedly trying to defraud HMRC.
Britain’s tax agency, Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs Service (HMRC), has seized NFTs and arrested three people as part of a fraud investigation.
According to HMRC’s statement, 3 NFTs were seized as part of a suspected tax payment fraud investigation involving fraudulent companies.
Three people have been arrested for allegedly attempting to defraud HMRC of $1.8 million using “advanced methods”.
According to the regulator, the suspects managed to conceal their identities using stolen identities, fake addresses, disposable cell phones, VPNs, and fake bills.
HMRC stated that they were the first institution to seize NFTs, noting that the arrests of the public were an example, and warned anyone considering using crypto to hide their money.
