UK Finance Minister Rishi Sunak plans to issue stablecoins and launch NFT to make the country a crypto-friendly tech hub.
According to a statement Monday by the Ministry of Finance, the country said it plans to accept stablecoins as a valid form of payment and with appropriate regulations, they can provide a more efficient payment method. Sunak also called for the NFT launch:
“We want to see the jobs and creations of tomorrow here in the UK and by regulating effectively we can give them the confidence they need to think and invest long-term.”
The ministry said in a statement on its official Twitter account that the move represents “the forward steps that the UK is ready to take towards crypto assets”. The NFT in question is scheduled to launch this summer.
