Beyond Good and Evil 2 breaks records
“Beyond Good and Evil 2 is under development and the team is working hard to deliver on its ambitious promise,” a Ubisoft spokesperson told Eurogamer. The interesting thing is that it has been almost fifteen years since Ubisoft released the first trailer for the game. The original Beyond Good and Evil was released in 2003. You can watch the first Beyond Good and Evil 2 trailer, released at Ubidays 2008, right below. Meanwhile, Beyond Good and Evil 2, Duke Nukem Forever (1997-2011) broke the longest development record for an AAA video game.
Still, confirming that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in development doesn’t give us much of a clue as to when Ubisoft will actually release the game. The company managed to create great anticipation when it released a new trailer for the game at E3 2017. But even then, Michel Ancel, the game’s director at the time, warned that the team was still in the early stages of development.
Between the news last week and the cancellations announced last year, Ubisoft has terminated development of more than half a dozen games in the past twelve months. The release date of Skull and Bones, the multiplayer pirate game known to be in development since 2013, has also been postponed to a later date. On the other hand, the company also announced that it will turn its focus to its big brands. You can also watch the E3 2017 announcement video of Beyond Good and Evil 2 below.
