The James Webb Space Telescope, which comes across with a new success every day, has made another discovery that shows that it is getting closer to reaching its goal, step by step. The telescope observed two galaxies from the earliest times of the universe.
The two galaxies James Webb observed were named ‘GLASS-z12’ and ‘GN-z11’. The letter z in the name of the galaxies indicates the degree of ‘redshift’, which indicates that these galaxies are extremely far away. The number after ‘z’ corresponds to the change in wavelength.
So, how ‘old’ are these galaxies?

According to the information shared by scientists, the GLASS-z12 galaxy occurred only 350 million years after the Big Bang. It was announced that the GLASS z-11 galaxy formed 450 million years later.
The new discovery may be of paramount importance:
Scientists stated that with the new discovery, roads can be established for many discoveries. Because the new galaxies revealed by Webb may include the light of the star at the farthest point from the Earth that has been discovered so far.
At the same time, the galaxies were extremely bright compared to other older galaxies. This indicated that galaxies could host extremely large and low-mass stars. Of course, in order to get answers to all these questions, researches specific to galaxies need to continue.
