Especially with the introduction of the USB 3.0 standard, an endless confusion about naming was ignited. Along with many different namings, two more came this week.
USB 10Gbps and USB 20Gpbs
Confusing continues as the USB Application Association works to clear consumer confusion. As of this week, USB 10Gbps instead of SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps, and USB 20Gbps instead of USB4 20Gbps will be available. The change covers USB 3.0 and later.
USB4 and USB PD 3.1 new logos
The union only wants this nomenclature to be used for devices and cables that have passed the approval process. A guide on marketing and branding will be published shortly. It is stated that the first products will be on the market by the end of the year.
The interesting thing is that there are no sanctions for those who want to use SuperSpeed and USB4 naming. In other words, a cable that offers the same features may have two different names. It is a matter of curiosity how the new confusion that will arise will be resolved.
