Twitter can be 1000 characters
During a Twitter thread last November 28, Elon Musk responded to a tweet asking for the character limit to be increased to 1,000 characters. Musk replied, “On his to-do list.” As you know, the character limit for tweets as of now is 280.
John Kraus (@johnkrausphotos), who made the proposal, has also detailed his request. Kraus’ original request is that the character limit is 1000, but only the first 280 characters of the relevant tweet appear in the stream. The corresponding long character tweet will also have a “show more” option and tapping will expand the entire tweet.

What we don’t know right now is how long Musk’s to-do list is and what rank Twitter’s new character count is on that list. On the other hand, of course, there is no guarantee that the number of characters will be 1000, but long tweets are also mentioned in the slides that Musk has already published. So tweets with longer characters are a topic that’s already being worked on.
