Twitter has been making an intense effort to bring new features to the platform lately. According to the shares made by Jane Manchun Wong, who is known for discovering hidden features in popular applications, the company is working to bring the Bitcoin tipping feature, which was initially only available on iOS devices, to Android devices.

Last July, the platform was working on the ability to remove comments from users’ posts in case of dislike. It was announced that this feature, which was initially available for testing purposes only on iOS devices, will come to all platforms over time. In fact, according to a claim by Wong, the company plans to bring this feature to the web. So if the Bitcoin tipping feature comes to Android, it wouldn’t be surprising at all.

When will the Bitcoin tipping feature come to Android?

With the tip jar feature it introduced in May, Twitter allowed users to tip content producers. Initially, it was only possible to send money via payment tools such as Venmo, Paypal, and Square’s Cash App. However, later on, it was also possible to pay with Bitcoin, and in August, Lightning Network supported Bitcoin payments were added to the beta version of the application.

Twitter officially announced Bitcoin support for iOS devices on September 23. Then, it gradually opened this service to all devices. The company has announced that the tip feature with Bitcoin will soon be available to Android users. However, an exact date has not been specified.

The technology behind this new feature brought by the platform is supported by Strike, which enables payments with cryptocurrencies. Considering that devices with Android operating system dominate 70 percent of the market, it seems like a right decision to choose a company that is currently working on all operating systems for this new feature.

NFT era begins on Twitter

In addition to the newly introduced tip feature, it is known that the company continues to work on NFT systems. According to the announcement published at the end of September, Twitter continues to work on NFT authentication support and system optimization.

With this feature, anyone who wishes will be able to showcase their NFTs on Twitter. As we can see in the screenshot shared by Wong, there will be a separate section called collections on the application and can be accessed through the profile page. In addition, improvements continue on the platform’s mobile application, which can also display NFTs and their details.
