Warning due to ‘risk of misinformation’

The Californian social media platform, just as it warned its users about channels that provided ‘false information’ during the pandemic, this time too. He began to warn about Russian media outlets. Authorities announced in their statement that since the beginning of the invasion, an average of 45 thousand tweets have been sent daily from Russian media outlets. Explaining that these tweets can cause ‘perception manipulation’ and information pollution on social media, and therefore they should warn users, the authorities offered this feature to its users today.

This system of Twitter matches the links shared by press organizations and users with news sites belonging to the Russian media and under these links “Be informed. This tweet is linked to a Russian website.” makes the warning appear.

Twitter also announced that Russian press organizations that share too much will hide some of their posts, thus aiming to prevent information pollution on the internet.

After this new sanction of Twitter, many Russian media outlets started to add links to platforms such as Telegram and VK in their posts.
