Recently, we have been seeing many innovations on Twitter, the popular social media platform acquired by Elon Musk. The mercenary blue tick that has turned into a Arabian hair, the recently changed COVID disinformation policies are just a few of these changes. In addition, the platform removed the phrase that shows which device the tweets were sent from today.
Now, it has been seen that other innovations will come to Twitter. A post from Twitter’s own official account revealed that the scope of ‘suggested tweets’ has been expanded, which will also show us the posts of people we don’t follow.
Now everyone will see suggested tweets
We want to ensure everyone on Twitter sees the best content on the platform, so we’re expanding recommendations to all users, including those who may not have seen them in the past.

Let’s point out that such a feature is already on the platform. When many users browsed the homepage, posts from accounts they didn’t follow were already visible. As we understand from Twitter’s sharing, the new update will allow these posts to be shown more often and to more people. In other words, tweets from people they do not follow will appear in the stream of those who have not seen such posts before.
Twitter says it does this “to ensure everyone sees the best content on the platform.” Of course, we do not know how much this will be liked by users. Many people may not like it when they constantly see unrelated posts from accounts they don’t follow.
What should you do if you don’t want to see suggested Tweets?
If you don’t want to see suggested tweets, you can make your stream ‘chronological’. You can do this with the “Switch to the latest Tweets” option that appears when you press the sparkle icon in the upper right corner when you enter the application. We can see that Twitter has not added suggested posts to this mode for now. However, it should not go without saying that suggested tweets can also be included in the notifications and explore sections outside of the main stream.
