Twitter is fighting the lawsuit filed by former US president Donald Trump for being banned from the social network. According to Bloomberg’s report, Twitter requested that Trump’s lawsuit against the company be dropped.
The social network notes that it’s a private company that isn’t required to host a conversation it doesn’t like, and that Trump repeatedly violated rules he agreed to when he chose to use the service. Twitter argues that the repeal of the ban it imposed within the framework of these rules would mean going against “the basic principles of constitutional law”.
Trump actually doesn’t seem to plan to return to Twitter, Facebook, and other social networks. He recently launched a social media platform called Truth Social to bring together other conservatives who feel silenced by him and tech companies. If Twitter’s appeal is accepted, Trump will eventually have no choice but to abandon the platform he once loved to use.
