Twitter will allow its users to access stocks, cryptocurrencies and other financial assets through its partnership with eToro.

This new feature, available from Thursday, will allow users to view market charts, trade stocks and other assets from eToro, and view market data on more financial instruments.

Cashtag Feature Will Be Expanded

Currently, it’s already possible to view real-time trading data from TradingView on index funds like the S&P 500 and stocks of some companies like Tesla.

Twitter’s cashtag feature allows you to view this data. If you eliminate a dollar sign in front of any stock, the app can show you the price information from TradingView using an API.

According to the eToro spokesperson, who made a statement about Twitter’s current cashtag feature, with the eToro partnership, Twitter cashtags will be expanded to include much more instruments and asset classes. With this new development, Twitter will create an option that directs users to eToro’s site, so that assets can be bought and sold on the platform.

“As we have grown tremendously over the past three years, we have seen more and more of our users engage on Twitter and educate themselves about the markets,” Yoni Assia, CEO of eToro, told CNBC. Assia continued her words as follows: “There is very high quality and real-time content on the financial analysis of companies and what is happening in the world. We believe this partnership will enable us to reach new audiences and better connect the Twitter and eToro brands.”

Twitter added pricing data for cashtags in December 2022. Since the beginning of 2023, more than 420 million searches have been made for cashtags, with an average of 4.7 million searches per day.

Making it his mission to transform Twitter into a super app, Musk changed Twitter’s corporate name to X Corp at the beginning of the week. Weeks before finalizing the Twitter acquisition, Musk had stated that the acquisition of the company was an accelerator to create the all things app X, after he made multiple attempts to back out of the deal.
