A cyber attack was carried out on the official social media accounts of the UK army. Hackers, who took over the military’s Twitter and YouTube accounts, advertised NFT and crypto money. The UK cyber force, which confirmed that its Twitter and YouTube accounts were breached, stated that they have started investigating.

UK military hacked on YouTube and Twitter

The accounts of the UK army with the username “@BritishArmy” were hacked one by one. Confirming that his Twitter and YouTube profiles were hacked, the UK said that they soon started to talk to the authorities to recover the account.

Although it is unclear who the hackers are for now, the name of the YouTube channel has been changed to “Ark Invest”. Hackers, who organized fake raffles containing Elon Musk’s speeches, began to defraud people through live broadcasts. At the time of writing the news, we noticed that there were four live broadcasts on the channel “Ark Invest”.

The Twitter account named “@BritishArmy” has not shared anything yet. However, the post of an NFT artist named TFG was retweeted. The profile photo of the army account has also been removed.

Saying that they talked to Twitter and YouTube about the hacking attempt on their social media accounts, the spokesperson of the British army underlined that they are aware that the accounts have been violated. While the number of followers of the British army on Twitter is around 362,000, it has more than 177,000 subscribers on YouTube.

We are aware that the Army’s Twitter and YouTube accounts have been breached, and an investigation is underway. We take information security very seriously and solve the problem. It would not be appropriate to comment further until the investigation is complete.

The change of the Army’s YouTube channel to Ark Invest was particularly noteworthy. But it should be noted that Ark Invest is the name of an investment company. A spokesperson for the company stated that they had nothing to do with the attack.
