Increasing popularity at the beginning of the pandemic, TikTok has become a platform that affects its competitors over time. Recently, Instagram announced that it has updated the main page and switched to the full-screen format, which is exactly the same as TikTok, and has started testing it with a limited number of users.
Twitter, which Elon Musk bought for $44 billion, took a similar decision. Renewing the Discover section with popular tweets, the social media company removed the COVID-19, News, Sports and Entertainment tabs in the old version. It now only consists of two tabs: Trending and For You.
Twitter tests TikTok-like For You page
Twitter launched its new Discover section in India in December. Now it has started to be tested with more users. Social media consultant Matt Navarra has released a video showing how the “For You” tab, which is exactly the same as TikTok’s interface, works.
When the Explore button is touched, “Trends” will appear directly. In this section, you can choose to see personalized tweets based on your interests. You can also set it to see trending topic tweets that are currently popular on the platform.
When you slide the page to the right, the “For You” section opens. Here, as the name suggests, are tweets and videos that Twitter thinks you’ll love. Just like in TikTok and the new interface tested by Instagram, you can switch between posts by swiping up on Twitter.
Matt Navarra, while commenting “My Twitter is now TikTok” in his post; Regarding the revamped Discover section, the company said:
We continue to test a revamped, more personal Discover page to make it easier for you to unwind, discover new interests and see what’s going on.
