These images feature two versions of the same Tweet. The Tweet at the top of the screenshot appears as a corrected version of the Tweet below. Just below the top edited Tweet, ‘Last edited at 18.30. It says ‘August 1, 2022’.
Twitter has taken a new step for its editing feature!
In addition to being original, the tweet below the screenshot contains a typo. The message below it is different. ‘There is a new version of this Tweet.’ As Wong points out in his tweet thread, the Tweet embed feature that Twitter is working on is a step forward for users to be transparent.
Thus, if a website embeds someone’s Tweet in a post and that Tweet is later edited by a Tweet author, the embed does not automatically become new. This feature sounds like the answer to all the concerns the platform is finally getting an edit button.
