Twitter, one of the most popular social media platforms in the world, has been on the agenda recently with Elon Musk. However, the platform also came up with many innovations such as the ‘tweet editing’ feature.

It turned out that the platform, which has millions of users, is now working on something new. A pop-up noticed by some Twitter users indicated that the platform knew we had taken a screenshot of a tweet.

Twitter does not want a tweet to be shared as a screenshot

Application researcher Jane Manchun Wong shared a popup she encountered on the platform through her account. This revealed that Twitter can detect that a screenshot of a tweet has been taken and instead wants links to the tweets to be shared, she said. In the window that opens in the shared photo, “Would you like to share the Tweet instead?” expressions were found. In addition, at the bottom of this statement, ‘Copy link’ and ‘Share tweet’ options were offered to users.

The giant platform did not make any statement about the window that appeared before the users and asked them to share the tweets directly instead of taking screenshots. However, there is a good chance that this is an update being worked on to get more people to use Twitter. As it is known, screenshots taken from Twitter are frequently shared on different platforms. This causes the platform to lose interaction.

This development revealed that Twitter continues its moves to grow its users. In August, the company announced that it had started testing for potential new users to enable them to enter Twitter without creating an account.
