It has been revealed that Twitter, which has made its stance against troll and bot accounts very hard recently, has detected and removed more than 3 thousand accounts that are making propaganda for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics Games and attacking some countries such as the USA.
It was determined that the accounts in question attacked people who made bad comments against the Olympics boycotted due to human rights violations in China, and made social media posts that amounted to insults in a coordinated manner against the boycotting countries, especially the USA. For this reason, it was stated that Twitter violated its manipulation and spam policy.
Finally, it is worth noting that the platform removed 2,048 accounts in December that support China’s treatment of Uighur Turks and attack those who think otherwise.
A Twitter spokesperson, speaking to Insider on the subject, used the following statements;
If we have clear evidence of government-sponsored troll operations, our first priority is to enforce our rules and remove accounts that engage in this behavior.” Once our investigations are complete, we will disclose all accounts and content in our information processing archive.
