Elon Musk has stepped up his criticism of Apple after buying Twitter. Retweeting Epic Games’ parody video that deals with the monopoly of the App Store, Musk also said that Apple has reduced its advertising rates. He believes the company is undermining freedom of expression with this approach.
Claiming that Apple wants to remove the Twitter app from the App Store, Elon Musk said in a tweet he shared, “Apple also threatened to remove Twitter from the App Store, but did not tell us why.” Let us remind you that there is no statement from Apple on this issue.
Drawing attention to freedom of expression before buying Twitter, Musk drew criticism for firing his senior engineers who criticized him and activating former President Trump’s account. However, Musk believes he is doing this for freedom of expression.
A report released last week revealed that Twitter has lost half of its top 100 advertisers. These brands spent $2 billion on Twitter ads in 2020 and more than $750 million in 2022.
Popular companies such as AT&T, CNN, Dell, DirecTV, HP, Nestle, Coca-Cola, Verizon, Volkswagen, Wells Fargo no longer make advertising deals with Twitter.
