Twitter, the world’s most popular microblogging platform, has been on the agenda for a week only with its rebranding process. The platform will no longer use the Twitter name or its iconic logo. Instead, the name “X” and the new logo Elon Musk announced recently will come. The changes will gradually spread all over the world.

One of the changes Twitter has experienced in the rebranding process is the change of the domain name. The platform will use the “x.com” address from now on. This led to a remarkable development regarding Twitter. Twitter of the years was blocked in Indonesia due to domain name change. The regulation, which entered into force in 2018 and aimed to block websites with adult-oriented content (gambling, pornography, etc.), caused the new domain name to be affected by this situation.

x.com will be accessible after meeting the Indonesian government’s conditions:

*Notice that welcomes those trying to enter Twitter in Indonesia. In the notice, it is stated that the website is subject to an access block within the scope of the relevant law.

According to the laws in Indonesia, websites that will start to serve in the country must declare that they do not contain adulthood and work on this. This is exactly why the platform, which started to use the x.com domain name, was blocked. If Elon Musk had wanted to continue using the twitter.com domain name in Indonesia, he would not have had such a problem. Because twitter.com is already active in Indonesia.

Let me also point out; x.com is not permanently banned in Indonesia. The platform will be accessible after fulfilling the requirements. Let’s also note that this decision has affected other popular platforms such as Netflix, TikTok, Google, Facebook and Instagram in the past, and there is no problem after the obligations under the regulations are fulfilled.
