Twitter announced that a new feature for e-commerce has started beta testing. Allowing its users to browse a collection of up to 50 products from a business, Twitter Shops will allow to review specific products without going directly to the business’s site.
Products can only be viewed
Twitter wants to bring new features in order not to fall behind rival platforms in the field of e-commerce. The company started testing the Store module on the platform a while ago, and is now offering a new experience with Twitter Shops. Although they look similar, these two features have some differences.
The Shop module allows merchants to showcase up to five products directly on their profile, while Twitter Shops allows merchants to highlight a longer product collection and offers users a full-screen view.
Users who want to access Twitter Shops will be able to view up to 50 products selected by the business via a ‘View Store’ button on the profile of the relevant company. The products displayed here will not be sold. When purchasing a product from this screen, which will only serve as a review site, users will be directed to the company’s website with a pop-up window within the application.
Instagram removed Boomerang and Hyperlapse
Twitter Shops , is currently available to select retailers in the US. The company says they will explore how they can make the feature more discoverable during the testing process.
