Introducing the H-series processors of Alder Lake architecture for performance-oriented laptops at CES 2022, Intel has now introduced its productivity-oriented P-series processors.

What do Intel Alder Lake P processors offer?

Intel Alder Lake P processors are aimed at systems that consider a little more efficiency but also take performance into account. Processors with 28W thermal design power can reach 64W at turbo speeds.

The Intel Core i7-1280P processor in the series is at its peak and contains 6 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores. Efficiency cores can be overclocked to 3.6GHz and performance cores to 4.8GHz. The 96 graphics clusters reach 1450MHz.

Intel Core i7-1270P processor comes with 4 performance and 8 efficiency cores. On the other hand, there is a slight increase in base speeds. The graphics unit, on the other hand, has some low frequency. Level 3 cache is 18MB. Intel Core i7-1260P is the last processor to achieve similar performance. Later models suffer a little more performance and core loss.

In this series, Intel has not reserved PCIe x8 lanes for external graphics. There are two sets of PCIe 4.0 x4 lanes and one set of PCIe 3.0 x12 lanes. There are also up to 4 Thunderbolt 4 ports. WiFi 6E and Gb Ethernet chips also come integrated. If laptop manufacturers want to use an external graphics solution, they have to reserve one of the PCIe 4.0 x4 kits. It is estimated that Intel did not include the x8 line because it thought that there would not be too many external graphics solutions in the P series.
