The studio, which denied their alleged ties to Silent Hill several times before, emphasized that they are “human” this time. According to the statement, they received many death threats in the virtual environment, and these sometimes turned into threats to be carried over to the physical environment.
Why is Blue Box receiving death threats?
Blue Box, a game studio based in Turkey, announced the game they developed for PlayStation 5 earlier this year. This announcement was also made as a trailer on PlayStation’s official YouTube channel. The survival game called ‘Abandoned’ looked good in its own right with its trailer in a gloomy setting. However, this game entered the radar of Silent Hill fans in a way they never wanted.
Canceled Silent Hill game
When the rumors first broke out, many Silent Hill fans claimed that Abandoned was a ‘front’, that is, a fake. According to fans, what was shown as Abandoned was the Silent Hill game itself, which was canceled years ago. Even with similarities seen in the game’s trailer and the company’s logo, fans found seemingly compelling evidence to believe what they wanted.
What really ignited the wick of events was Kojima, the developer of Silent Hill, by posting on Twitter with the Silent Hill logo and saying that “something new” would come. Although Kojima’s tweet turned out to be very irrelevant, fans thought it was part of the whole plot and continued to think that Abadoned was actually the new Silent Hill game.
