Turkey, which received 15 points in the “access barrier”, 10 points in the “content limitation” and 9 points in the “user rights violations”, became the 59th country with the freest internet among 70 countries with a total of 34 points. In the area of ​​Internet purchasing power, it ranked 59th. The country with the freest internet was Iceland with 96 points.

The report also mentioned the content types that received the most access bans. According to the data, sites with domain names containing sexually-related keywords are among the most blocked sites. Pages about atheism are blocked for reasons such as “insulting religion”. Pages that may be terrorist organization propaganda were also quickly blocked, while the report also touched upon different factors that negatively affect internet use in Turkey. For example, according to the data, men use the internet the most with a 13% difference in Turkey. Many users have difficulties in accessing the internet due to reasons such as power outages and weak telecommunication infrastructure.
