Uncertainties in the global economy continue to affect many electronic products, from smartphones to tablets. Compared to the problems in the industry, technology giant Apple, which is preparing to introduce the new generation iPhone 14 family recently, has accelerated the work to expand its production line.

Preparations for M2X and M3 processors are complete

According to information from production chain sources, Apple plans to start mass production of the M2X processor, codenamed Rhodes, at the end of September. In addition, the technology giant is reported to have completed the core design of the M3 architecture codenamed Palma, while M3 processors will rely on the more advanced N3E process, while M2X will rely on TSMC’s N3 process.

The M3 processors are expected to launch in the second half of 2023 or the first half of 2024, about a year after mass production of the M2X. However, the new processor will find its place in the new generation MacBook Air, iPad Air and iPad Air Pro models. As it is known, Apple has started to reposition the iPhone 14 product line and target market this year. Thus, while the iPhone 14 will continue to use the A15, the iPhone 14 Pro will be equipped with the new A16 processor using TSMC’s 5nm N4.

The design of the A17 is nearing completion

As for the next-generation A17 processor, codenamed Coll, Apple is reportedly in the final stages of work. According to the source, the new processor will be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm N3 process between the second and third quarter of next year. In the light of the shared information, we can say that Apple will increase its competition with Intel, AMD and Qualcomm by accelerating the transition to 3nm in the mobile phone and PC industry.
