Continuing its preparations for the iPhone 14 at full speed, Apple has gradually begun to share the production of different function chips. While TSMC was selected for the Apple A16 chipset, the foundry that would undertake the modem production was also determined.
iPhone 14 modems are entrusted to TSMC
Aiming for more efficient communication in the iPhone 14 series, Apple will use the Snapdragon X65 modem by partially customizing it. It is stated that the modem, which offers 5G and WiFi 6E connections, will be accompanied by a power chip designed by Apple. It is also emphasized that the mmWave mode, which offers stronger signals in the near field, will also be optimized.
Previously, it was claimed that Samsung and TSMC casting facilities would produce iPhone 14 modems. The latest information states that TSMC has received the entire production order. Thanks to the 6nm production process, a significant power consumption will be offered compared to the iPhone 13 modems. The iPhone 14 series will be available in the fall.
