TSMC is building its own fire department

TSMC, which has risen to a critical position in the chip industry, has to think carefully about every detail because an obstacle that will make production difficult causes the whole industry to suffer. One of the risks of huge facilities is fire.

In the past years, some plant-wide fires had partially affected production. TSMC also decided to set up its own fire department. So far, 6 people have been transferred from the fire department in the country.

TSMC is trying to recruit experienced firefighters by paying wages and bonuses much higher than their normal salaries. It is stated that the first year salary of firefighters working with a 5-year contract is up to 120,000 dollars.

The fire brigade team has the opportunity to immediately intervene in the fires that may occur in the facilities. Thus, it is possible to gain the time that will pass until the city fire department arrives at the scene of the incident. Of course, the return of this investment will return to the company as more efficient production.
