It seems that another name will be included in the low nanometer chip production race used in mobile phones, processors and graphics cards between Samsung and TSMC today. According to the reports shared by NikkeiAsia, Japan, which has signed a new cooperation with the USA, plans to start advanced 2nm production by 2025.
A new company can be established
While the two countries are expected to support each other with the new semiconductor technology partnership, the agreement will reportedly also include private companies that will assist in design and mass production research. In addition, Japan aims to create a stable supply chain by going domestic production for the supply of new generation chips.
AMD will become one of TSMC’s biggest customers
Although all details of the agreement are not yet known, it is anticipated that Japan may establish a joint company with the USA or a new production center may be established through Japanese companies. As of now, Japan, which has started to offer subsidies to reduce research and development costs for advanced semiconductors, will start work on the facility to be established between 2025 and 2027 this year.
