Former US president Donald Trump has attempted to create his own social network after his Twitter account was suspended. Earlier this year, she launched her own social media platform called Truth Social. However, the platform has not come a long way in a year. According to the latest news, Google has banned Truth Social from the Google Play store.
Truth Social banned for posts containing physical threats and incitement to violence
According to a Google spokesperson on Tuesday, former US president Donald Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, failed to gain approval from the Google Play Store. The reason was in violation of policies that prohibit content such as physical threats and incitement to violence.
At the same time, it automatically removes the application on Android phones with Google Play Protect turned on. Android phones make up about 40 percent of the US smartphone market. This also applies to iOS users. In this way, smartphone users will not be able to download Truth Social without Google and Apple stores.
Devin Nunes, CEO of Truth Social, said last week that the decision whether the app will be available on Google Play is up to the Google Play Store. Google, on the other hand, stated that it is Truth Social’s responsibility to comply with the rules.
A Google spokesperson made a statement on the subject. “On August 19, we reported several violations of standard policies to Truth Social. Having effective systems for moderating user-generated content is a condition of our terms of service for any app to be published on Google Play.”
In addition, the spokesperson made several suggestions to Truth Social on how to resolve the issues. On the other hand, Trump described Truth Social as a ‘free speech’ platform. But as many users report, Truth Social is far from being an unlimited conversation platform. Because on the platform, there are many rules about what you can and cannot say to users.
