Former US President Donald Trump made an interesting comment about Facebook’s loss of income. According to Trump, users stop using Facebook-owned platforms to join the new social media platform, Truth Social.
Facebook’s parent company, Meta, announced yesterday that its platforms lost approximately 1 million daily active users between the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2021. The company reported for the first time that it experienced a decrease in the number of users.
What did Trump say in his Facebook review?
Former US President Trump (who has become especially at odds with social media companies after his Twitter account was suspended) spoke about the loss suffered by Meta in a statement shared by his spokesperson, Liz Harington. “It means that people are tired of fake news and abuse, and especially their political cunning.” said.
“Also, users may be waiting for Truth Social, the highly sophisticated platform we look forward to launching in the not-too-distant future. It’s time to fix what’s going on in our country!”
Trump announced that he launched Truth Social after being suspended last year by companies like Facebook and Twitter, saying his posts provoked the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. Truth Social, set to launch on February 21, is marketed as a free conversation site that does not contain Big Tech (a term used for large companies in the information technology industry).
Meta Platforms Inc has released its financial position report for the fourth quarter of 2021. The company announced that its revenue, mostly from ads shown in its apps, was $33 billion in the last quarter. Its total revenue in 2021 reached $117 billion, an increase of 37 percent compared to 2020.
The number of daily active users of the social media network connected to Meta stood at 1.930 billion in the third quarter of 2021. However, Facebook announced that the number of daily users fell to 1.929 billion in the fourth quarter, with a loss of 1 million. While the platform was bullish in Europe and Asia Pacific regions, it was bearish globally.
