Saudi Arabia moves to clean 5G

In this context, Saudi Arabia is taking an important step.

Saudi Arabian-based real estate company Red Sea Global has taken a promising step towards this goal by collaborating with mobile telecom operator Zain KSA and implementing the world’s first zero-carbon 5G network. In a press release by the company, it was announced that the zero-carbon 5G network will be launched at the Six Senses Southern Dunes resort in the Red Sea. This network promises high-speed 5G connectivity, powered by 100 percent renewable energy from more than 760,000 solar panels to power the entire 28,000 square kilometers.

Network towers made with 3D printing

The mesh towers constructed were designed using 3D printing technology and built to blend in with the vibrant landscape of the Red Sea. The exterior of the towers has a rocky appearance, its antennae are not visible and it blends seamlessly into its surroundings. According to the statements made, the project aims to achieve three main goals: protecting the environment, reducing emissions by using renewable energy and mitigating visual degradation. “We aim to be global pioneers of renewable tourism development by adopting 100% renewable energy in our flagship Red Sea and working to achieve a 30% net conservation benefit by 2040,” says Red Sea Global.
