It is obvious that we are one of the countries with the most difficulty in obeying traffic rules. If you are a car user and you are driving by following the traffic rules as it should be, you have witnessed many times drivers trying to sneak into your lane from the shaded area where driving is prohibited.
The road at the exit of the European Side of the Eurasia Tunnel is one of the biggest examples of this. People are constantly trying to get to the lane by going back to this transit road. It has become such that this situation has become the agenda even on Twitter.
Causes traffic congestion
As you can see in the video, even a vehicle in the far right lane, even though it is in the opposite direction, comes back to the shaded area behind the strobe vehicle and crosses the road from there. This is really pissing people off. So why do people always go this route? Especially when Istanbul Police took precautions for this situation before?
The Eurasia Tunnel exit is used as a transit road from the middle of the coastal road to Samatya. While there is no traffic jam on this road even during the peak hours of evening traffic, there is a congestion on the coastal road, especially on Kennedy Caddesi, in the direction of Bakırköy.
In evening traffic, drivers turn back from the busy coastal road and head towards the Kumkapı connection road of the tunnel. There is a connection to the coastal road in the Yenikapı direction. You can continue on the Eurasia Tunnel, which is open, by entering from this turn. At this point, while there is congestion on Kennedy Caddesi due to the reverse of the vehicles, fast-moving vehicles on the Eurasia Tunnel are in danger due to the open traffic.
As a precaution, the Istanbul Police Department had placed a mobile EDS vehicle at the point where the turnoff was located. While motorized police teams were keeping watch at this point, the entrance road was widened by placing pontoons at the point where the turn was located. However, it seems that people still continue to do this, even at the expense of punishment.
