Popular messaging app WhatsApp continues to test new features to outperform its competitors and increase user satisfaction. According to a new report, the company is now testing a new feature for voice messages.

You will be able to use subtitles in environments where you cannot listen to voice messages.

According to a report shared by WABetaInfo, the transcript feature for voice messages has been introduced in the WhatsApp iOS beta application. As you can see from the screenshot below, the transcription is added to the message bubble, making it easier for users to read.

The transcription feature for voice memos also allows users to search for specific information within the message. When a voice memo is transcribed, the text is indexed, making it searchable. This means that if a user is looking for specific information in a long voice memo or can’t remember which voice memo contains the content they’re looking for, they can easily search for the relevant keyword or phrase using the search bar. So the transcription will highlight where the text appears in the message.

This feature, which is currently in the testing phase, is actively coming to beta users. If you want to turn off or enable this feature, you can check it in WhatsApp Settings > Chats > Voice Message Transcripts.
