While Wi-Fi 6 and 6E have not yet been fully introduced into our lives, TP-Link has announced a series of new “world’s first” Wi-Fi 7 router solutions based on the IEEE specification. While the announced models will serve the mainstream as the Archer router brand, they will also appear in the home networking area with the Deco product segment.

Wi-Fi 7, technically known as 802.11BE, is the upcoming successor to Wi-Fi 6 and 6E with obvious improvements like faster speeds and reduced latency. Wi-Fi 7 also enables Multi-Link Operation (MLO) two spectrum connections at the same time, that is, simultaneous 5GHz and 6GHz connections are possible.

You also need to have a compatible device to take advantage of all the blessings of Wi-Fi 7 and its 320 MHz high-capacity channels. As a benchmark, Wi-Fi 6E had 160 MHz maximum channel support.

TP-Link Archer BE900 features

The first of the new TP-Link routers actually looks more like a hard drive than a router. The quad-band Archer BE900 will come with LED lighting and a touchscreen at a price tag of $699.99. The touch screen will display time, weather and network information. Other features include OpenVPN support and a private IoT network for smart devices.
The BE900 supports wireless speeds of up to 24Gbps, which is less than Wi-Fi 7’s theoretical 40Gbps-plus speeds but still more than double the speed of the company’s previous Archer Wi-Fi 6E router. There aren’t many devices that can take advantage of Wi-Fi 7 yet, but it can be considered an investment going forward. On the other hand, let’s also mention that there is backward compatibility. So if you already have a 6GHz device, you can use it in this router model. In addition, the BE900 also offers a combined 10Gb SFP+Fiber WAN option, 10Gb WAN and four 2.5G ethernet ports. Therefore, the device can also be used as a LAN unit. The Archer BE900 will be available for pre-order on December 31 and will be available in the first quarter of 2023.

TP-Link Archer BE800 and BE550 features

The Archer BE800 is a slightly cropped model. This model offers 19Gbps wireless speeds over tri-band. On the device where 10 Gb internet service is supported, the LED lights are still present, while the touch screen feature is not offered.

This model is followed by the BE550 router model, which reduces maximum wireless speeds to 9.3 Gbps and only has 2.5 Gbps ethernet ports. Both products have EasyMesh feature, so it is possible to create a home network with these router solutions.

Archer GE800 Gaming features

Designed for gamers and gamers, there is a new tri-band Archer GE800 Gaming router solution with app-enabled Gaming Panel that can help prioritize gaming traffic on the network. This solution supports Wi-Fi 7 speeds of up to 19Gbps and has two 10Gb ethernet ports, two 2.5Gb and four more gigabit ports.

In addition to all these, TP-Link also announced the Deco BE85, BE95 and BE65 router systems. The top solution of the family, the Deco BE95 model, will offer wireless network speeds from four bands to 33Gbps, two 10G and two 2.5G connection ports. The price of this product is $1,199 and will be available for pre-order on December 31.
