Toyota, which has come to the fore with its hybrid cars for a long time, is in a big change. The company, which introduced its first electric car with the bZ4X, has appeared with the sedan bZ3 in the past months. There was an annoying development about the bZ3 model, which is the second fully electric car under the Beyond Zero series of the Japanese manufacturer.
12,000 Toyota bZ3 recalls
Launching the bZ3 model on April 16, 2023, Toyota is launching a recall after a short while. The reason for the recall, which will take place for the 12,205 bZ3 electric sedan produced between March 13 and July 5, 2023, was due to malfunctioning rear doors.
In addition to stating that the rear doors can be unlocked while driving, the automaker stated that these doors may cause passengers to remain locked in some cases. While it is stated that the design and material of the door causes a gap to form between the outer door handle and the lock, it is stated that the lock mechanism does not work properly, especially in high humidity or temperatures.
Toyota has announced that it will replace the rear door locks with additional gaskets free of charge to make vehicles safe. The company is also asking owners of affected vehicles to immediately stop using the vehicles and contact their nearest Toyota dealer for inspection. Toyota has announced that recalls will begin on July 27, 2023.
The bZ3, which emerged as a result of the partnership between Toyota and China’s largest electric car manufacturer BYD, rises on the brand’s e-TNGA platform. The vehicle, which uses BYD’s engine and battery systems, is offered in two different versions with a range of 517 and 616 kilometers, according to CLTC data.
Determining an aggressive price policy for both bZ4X and bZ3 in order to be assertive in the Chinese market, both electric models of Toyota have prices below 25 thousand dollars. So what do you think about Toyota and its electric cars? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
