Japanese automotive giant Toyota held a joint event with its subsidiary brand Lexus. At this event, 16 vehicle concepts with an all-electric structure were introduced. The company announced that one of the best ways to reduce carbon emissions to zero is electric vehicles. However, he stated that it is impossible to come up with a single option that will make everyone happy.

Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda noted that they divide their future vehicle strategy into two: ‘carbon-reducing vehicles’ and ‘carbon-free vehicles’. The bZ4X model, which is a part of this strategy and stands out among the vehicles introduced, is a part of the bZ series, which represents Toyota’s zero emission targets.

Toyota and Lexus unveil 16 new vehicles

Toyota bZ is the company’s family of dedicated battery electric vehicles with the same platform. The 2022 Toyota bZ4X will be one of the first members of the series. A new mid-size SUV, compact SUV and a small city vehicle will join the lineup. Other concepts unveiled at the event include a mid-size Sedan and a large three-row SUV that will play the same role as the Sequoia in the Toyota fleet.

Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda showed us at the event an all-electric truck, a small SUV resembling the Suzuki Jimny, and a small GR badged sports car that will likely revive the MR2 name or represent the next-generation Toyota GR86 model.

Toyota plans 30 fully battery electric vehicles by 2030, covering all segments from passenger cars to commercial vehicles. The company has announced that it wants to sell 3.5 million fully electric vehicles globally by 2030. He also stated that he aims to have electric vehicles account for 100% of all global sales by 2035. He also stressed that he will continue to keep his options open and not close the door to hydrogen or other propulsion methods.
