Elon Musk, one of the founders of Tesla, which we know with its electric vehicles that do not compromise on performance, has recently been on the agenda with his work in the field of space. Our billionaire in question attracted attention, especially with the Inspiration4 flight that took place recently.
Although it sounds simple, the Inspiration4 mission, in which a 4-person civilian team revolves around the world for 3 days, opened the doors of space tourism to humanity. But since this was the first flight of our space tourism, there were a few flaws. According to the information, the crew had problems with the toilet during the flight.
“Next flight will definitely use more advanced toilets”
The problem manifested itself when the waste management system in the capsule sensed an anomaly. Exactly what kind of problem the team, who stated that they had a problem with the suction fan, was not disclosed, but considering that this problem badly affected the 3-day trip, it would not be difficult to think that bad smells were circulating around.
Stating that he personally congratulated the Inspiration4 team in Florida on his Twitter account, Musk shared a “heated toilet seat” offer for the next flight. In response, Musk said that more advanced toilets will definitely be used next time, and that those used on this flight cause some problems.
This is not the first time we encounter such problems in space travel. Because NASA is still looking for potential improvements on the toilet. Of course, when we say toilet, what is in our homes should not come to mind. Because there is no gravity in space, even for the simplest needs such as toilets, devices must be made for those needs.
To tell the difference, let’s say that toilets in space roughly use the vacuum method.
